The Great South Bay

The beautiful Great South Bay is the largest of Long Island's South Shore Bays and nowadays is utilized mainly for recreational activities such as boating, fishing, clamming, kite surfing and every kind of water sport imaginable. It stretches from Eastern Nassau County well into Central Suffolk and reaches 3 miles southward to the barrier islands which protect Long Island's southern shores from the battering waves of the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Contained in this gallery are a mix of photos taken at different locations, but since I currently have the privilege of living only steps from it's open waters and often gorgeous light in Amity Harbor, many of the images in this gallery were taken exactly there.
