SaltyDogPhotography  > SaltyDog > Travel > Montreal & Quebec City 2008
In October 2008 we took a little road trip through Canada and visited the cities of Montreal and Quebec. While Montreal is a vibrant and colorful metropolis, we were particularly charmed by Quebec City.

SaltyDogPhotography > While the weather didn't always want to play along, sometimes the ominous skies only contributed to the images. Plenty of interesting buildings can be found in "Vieux Montreal".
SaltyDogPhotography > One of the most beautiful buildings in Montreal, inside and out, is certainly the Basilique Notre-Dame. Unfortunately it was pouring rain when we arrived and I had not brought my tripod either. Therefore interior shots are somewhat blurry and exterior shots there are none.
SaltyDogPhotography > Another somewhat blurry interior shot of the Basilique Notre-Dame, this one's of the beautiful organ.
SaltyDogPhotography > As mentioned before, the weather did not always cooperate and sudden downpours along with the appearance of colorful umbrellas were a frequent daily occurrence. As captured here at the edge of Old Town/Vieux Montreal.
SaltyDogPhotography > Another shot of one of the narrow streets in Vieux Montreal. Even the people here look french!
SaltyDogPhotography > Other parts of town are cosmopolitan and vibrant as a big young city should be.
SaltyDogPhotography > The old part of town looks very charming at night as well.
SaltyDogPhotography > Our last morning in Montreal was spent at this Creperie, where we felt somewhat overwhelmed by the large selection of novelty crepes.
SaltyDogPhotography > Leaving Montreal for the 3 hour drive to Quebec City and gassing up outside of town. You don't have to drive too far to leave the city behind and find yourself in beautiful farmland and countryside.
SaltyDogPhotography > View of the Castle Frontenac, which nowadays is a very exclusive hotel.
SaltyDogPhotography > Promenade below the castle along the river
SaltyDogPhotography > Overlooking the newer parts of Quebec from within the walled city, with St. Lawrence River in the background
SaltyDogPhotography > Quebec is the only walled city in North America. You can walk all along and sometimes on top of the wall either with a guided tour or just by yourself.
SaltyDogPhotography > The streets are picturesque in Quebec, even away from the mainstream tourist areas.
SaltyDogPhotography > Another view from the top of the wall surrounding the city, towards the more modern part of town below.
