In October 2008 we took a little road trip through Canada and visited the cities of Montreal and Quebec. While Montreal is a vibrant and colorful metropolis, we were particularly charmed by Quebec City.

SaltyDogPhotography > Place Jacques-Cartier in beautiful Vieux Montreal looks wordly, worn and warm. There are lots of bistros and restaurants lining this spot, and during the warmer months, many street artists strut their stuff here as well.
SaltyDogPhotography > Trying to lure customers, many restaurants provide outdoor seating under plastic tents and heat lamps despite rather chilly fall temperatures. The street sign to "stop" here is a fitting conincidence :D.
SaltyDogPhotography > Hopeful cafe proprietors set their chairs and tables out on the sidewalk, but due to the rather frigid air there aren't many takers.
SaltyDogPhotography > True to it's reputation of being very European in character, Montreal is dotted with little sidewalk bistros and cafes which are frequented by residents, students and tourists alike. Oh, and bicyclists are also a frequent sight!
SaltyDogPhotography > Indoor seating with fake "fan" in one of the many underground malls Montreal has to offer.
SaltyDogPhotography > Good food is easy to find in Montreal, even if it's only wax & plaster samples at first.
SaltyDogPhotography > Montreal is very francophile to say the least. Besides the fact that French is the first language spoken here, references to France can be found everywhere from street names to window decorations for Air France, as seen in this travel agency.
SaltyDogPhotography > Not only mannequins know how to dress in Montreal.
SaltyDogPhotography > I loved these old lanterns all over the old part of town.
SaltyDogPhotography > Another street scene of Vieux Montreal, lying somewhat abandoned on an early weekday morning - and I like it like that!
SaltyDogPhotography > Hotel de Ville, which means town hall, in Old Montreal. Love those oxidized copper roofs everywhere.
